About the Position:

Foursquare is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team!

The Shared Services Team is the backbone of our product offerings. We own and iterate on the core building blocks of our customer products, including billing, metering, user authentication, and permissioning. We make it easier for other teams to quickly launch new products, and help customers gain visibility into their payments and product usage.

Foursquare is looking to hire a Backend Software Engineer to join our Shared Services Team. You will be essential in helping other product managers and engineers understand how their products can fit into our systems and working to expand our offerings as our products and their requirements evolve.

In this role, you’ll:

• Implement new features and enhancements to our graph database and data delivery systems
• Collaborate with the team through ad-hoc learning sessions, code reviews, and shared projects
• Work closely with our Product Management team to determine requirements and implementation specifications
• Take responsibility and ownership of the development, deployment, and support of our production systems
• Participate in our on-call rotation duties to ensure our systems are running smoothly and work with your teammates to restore services during an outage

What you’ll need:

• 3-4+ years of software development experience building scalable, performant production backend systems
• Production experience with Scala or Java
• Experience with MongoDB
• Proactive, able to take the initiative and work independently
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Nice to haves: experience working with graph databases, geospatial data processing knowledge, familiarity working with AWS services
