What is special about this role?

As a Senior Product Designer at Helix, you will lead design across the patient experience. Our patients are at the center of the research studies that we set up with our healthcare partners. You will have the opportunity to enable patients to enroll in these studies & learn about their genetic results to improve their health and community.

As a Senior Product Designer, you will:

  • Collaborate with Product & Engineering to drive a cohesive and consistent experience across the patient’s touchpoints with Helix. This includes leading discovery, design, and helping with defining user requirements and use cases.
  • Evolve the responsive web experience that allows patients to enroll in research studies, create an online account, receive their genetic results, and beyond. This solution will empower patients to understand how their genetics affect their health and plan for future health outcomes.
  • Create, iterate on, and deliver UX design concepts, prototypes, as well as UI specifications and assets for use in all stages of the product development process.
  • Work cross-functionally with user research & translate research insights into features within the patient experience.
  • Help guide and define user experience and design principles for patient users while ensuring they are in with Helix’s design system and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the design team’s culture through collaboration, feedback, and process iteration.

About you:

  • 8+ years of experience designing for responsive web platforms.
  • Experience designing for patients or other users of healthcare technologies or related fields.
  • Expertise with utilizing web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) in web design.
  • Experience working on a user experience for the general public & prioritizes inclusivity of various demographics within the design.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates your ability to lead across the end-to-end design process — leveraging product & systems thinking, user research, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping skills.
  • Proficient with tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to scope and organize your own progress while working on multiple projects, according to our design and product roadmaps.
  • Considered a system-thinker and able to extend shared design patterns and behaviors to your product focus area.
  • Skilled in communicating your work, process, and decisions through storytelling to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Champion of being a leader and driving your team towards shared ownership, outcome, and success of the product experience.
  • Interest in learning about population health and genomics.

Pluses:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field.
  • Experience in a regulated organization, including experience with HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR.
  • Able to mentor junior and/or mid-level product designers.

Physical/Mental Demands: This role requires prolonged periods of sitting while being able to view and read text on computer screens less than a few feet away. May periodically require lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional walking or standing. May require repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers. May require meetings in person or via video conference (on or off-camera). Requires work in a typical office setting or may be eligible for remote work. Role also requires the ability to reason logically and make sound decisions; ability to understand, remember, and follow verbal and written instructions; and ability to perform in situations requiring deadlines. Ability to work as an integral part of a team.

Expected Pay For This Role:

Annual Salary - MXN 595,000 to 1,305,000

What To Expect During Your Onboarding Week:

We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.

What To Expect During Your First 90 days:

  • First 30 days: you’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers, our products, the impact we make in the lives of our communities, and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.

  • Day 30 - 60: you’ll spend time contributing to projects, deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes, and developing a deeper understanding of Helix’s products, services and capabilities.

  • Day 60 - 90: you’ll build your OKRs with your manager, start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team, and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.
