SUPERVISOR, TOOL & DIE (STARLINK)

SpaceX is seeking a motivated Tool & Die Supervisor to assist in the commissioning, planned maintenance, and repairs of it’s internal injection molding tools. This individual will be partnering with cross functional teams and bridging gaps between production, and maintenance operations. Working to achieve the common goal of manufacturing quality parts in the most efficient methods possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all aspects of mold maintenance and repair
    • Setting up tool maintenance intervals and instructions
    • Interviewing, hiring, and supervising tool makers
    • Training and developing individuals within the organization
    • Setting up an on the job training program similar to an apprenticeship
  • Support production and maintenance with troubleshooting
  • Create mold preparation checklists specific to each job
  • Identify and proactively execute opportunities for improvement within the tooling department
  • Create and maintain mold spare parts lists
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
  • Explore and identify future improvements, & cost saving initiatives
  • Support tooling trials at various vendors

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 8+ years of professional experience working with tool and die maintenance and repair
  • 1+ years of experience working in either a mold production environment, or a mold maintenance shop

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in leadership or as a supervisor
  • Professional experience with mold/die building
  • Professional experience with maintenance in a production environment such as injection molding, casting, die casting, stamping, assembly, and box build
  • Professional experience helping to manage the costs, schedule and complexity associated with each process
  • Experience creating and maintaining a positive atmosphere in a collaborative work team
  • Professional experience working with and launching a new product line launch
  • Ability to interpret dimensional data and propose/execute corrective actions
  • Ability to read and comprehend mold/part drawings and dimensions
  • Establish and maintain ownership of the department and ensure its continued success
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written communication
  • Expertise with common Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 15%) to other SpaceX locations/vendors

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Supervisor, Tool & Die: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
