PAINT TECHNICIAN (DRAGON)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely prepare, paint, and detail the spacecraft under minimal supervision.
- Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, and paint sprayers.
- Properly maintain shop equipment and tools.
- Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive chemicals.
- Comply with safety procedures and address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk.
- Enforce compliance with paint shop standard work practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 1+ years of experience in paint processes.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4+ years of experience working with solvent-based paints with car bodies, aircraft, or truck bodies.
- Experience using advanced paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, solvent-based, and acrylics).
- Familiarity with aviation industry.
- Experience applying sealant.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
- Experience using gravity fed, pressure pot, and airless type spray equipment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work all first shift hours (from 5am), overtime, and/or weekends as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
- Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Paint Technician /Level 1: $20.00 - $24.50/hour
Paint Technician /Level 2: $23.00 - $29.00/hour
Paint Technician /Level 3: $27.00 - $35.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
