Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe’s Financial Connections is building the world’s best and most seamless experience for allowing consumers to link and instantly pay with their bank account. Our flows are included in some of the most recognized consumer sites across the globe, like Airbnb and Uber, which use Stripe for bank payments powered by Financial Connections.

What you'll do

You’ll be joining the Bank Connectivity team within Financial Connections. Bank Connectivity is building a backend platform to connect and retrieve data reliably from 10,000+ institutions across the United States. As an engineer on the Bank Connectivity team, you’ll be responsible for building highly scalable, highly available backend systems that allow us to connect to Financial Institutions platforms that may not provide, in principle, the level of reliability and availability our users need. You’ll work on integrating with new institutions, building abstractions that allow us to extend our footprint at a fast pace, improving our routing systems to pick the best available connections at any moment and help us build an operationally excellent product.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a wide range of systems, processes and technologies to own and solve problems from end-to-end.
  • Design, build and maintain highly scalable, highly available systems.
  • Craft new products and features that impact millions of people and businesses around the world
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization such as product, data science, partnerships, legal, marketing, operations as well as 3rd party providers.
  • Develop and execute against both short- and long-term roadmaps. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
  • Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend software development experience.
  • Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, while keeping a good intuition for what is lasting and scalable
  • Are motivated by solving hard problems, and measure your success in terms of business impact.
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with complex or not well documented 3rd party integrations.
  • Appreciation for the importance of good documentation -- internal and external.
  • Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems

This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
