About the team

In this role, you will be joining the Multi Region Platform team. At Stripe, availability is a core feature of our products. This team designs and builds new solutions to allow latency-critical, stateful applications to survive any type of disaster. We build distributed systems on top of unreliable architecture to provide highly available and resilient customer solutions. The team drives Stripe wide initiatives like Multi-region support, disaster recovery and data locality.

What you’ll do

You will support a team of engineers focused on building global architecture by combining less-available components and data centers into a highly available and resilient whole. You will work on latency-critical solutions where every millisecond matters and data redundancy is a hard requirement. You will actively work with leaders and engineers across the company to understand and identify opportunities to improve Stripe’s reliability and multi-region posture.

Responsibilities

• Drive the roadmap, strategic direction and priorities for the team, and collaborate with other engineering teams across the company
  
• Support the team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
  
• Contribute to wider engineering initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering leadership team
  
• Act as a player/coach; still being close to the details of the work that the team is doing, but primarily supporting your team members to help amplify and multiply the effects of their individual work.

Minimum requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience
  
• 3+ years of engineering management experience
  
• Experience building strong technical teams that balance operational excellence, collaboration and user needs
  
• Experience working in highly cross-functional organizations
  
• Proven track record of building large scale, complex distributed systems
  

Preferred qualifications

• * Experience in managing development team in AWS/Azure/OCI/GCP
  
  • Experience managing remote and distributed teams
    
  • Experience working closely across geographies
